Statement of Commissioner Khouri on NCBFAA Recognition

Posted

On May 25, 2021, Commissioner Khouri was presented with a plaque of appreciation by a representative of the National Customs Brokers & Forwarders Association of America (NCBFAA) in a private ceremony. The commendation recognized Commissioner Khouri for “… his dedication to excellence and exemplary service as Chairman of the Federal Maritime Commission.”

President Donald Trump designated Commissioner Khouri as Acting Chairman of the Commission on January 23, 2017, and then designated him as Chairman on March 7, 2019. He was succeeded by Chairman Maffei in March 2021.

“I am honored by this recognition by NCBFAA. During my tenure at the Commission, I have always appreciated the willingness of NCBFAA and its members to work with and support the FMC’s efforts to ensure competition and integrity in America’s ocean supply chain,” said Commissioner Khouri.

Headquartered in Washington, DC, the NCBFAA represents more than 1,000 member companies with 110,000 employees in international trade – the Nation’s leading freight forwarders, customs brokers, ocean transportation intermediaries (OTIs), NVOCCs and air cargo agents, serving more than 250,000 importers and exporters.

Michael A. Khouri is a Commissioner with the U.S. Federal Maritime Commission. The thoughts and comments expressed here are their own and do not necessarily represent the position of the Commission.
