FMC Proposing New Demurrage & Detention Billing Requirements

The Federal Maritime Commission issued a Notice of Proposed Rulemaking that seeks to bring more clarity, structure, and punctuality to the demurrage and detention billing practices of vessel operating common carriers, non-vessel-operating common carriers, and marine terminal operators.

Commission Contracts with National Academies for OSRA Mandated Study

The Federal Maritime Commission awarded a contract to the National Academies of Science to conduct a study examining intermodal chassis pools and provide recommendations on best practices for their management.
