Commission Issues Order in Petition No. P3-18

The Federal Maritime Commission issued an Order partially granting Petition No. P3-18 for exemption filed by the World Shipping Council, seeking regulatory relief from 46 U.S.C. 40502(b) and (d).

New OTI Rules Now in Effect

Non-vessel-operating common carriers (NVOCC) will now need their required bond, insurance or other form of surety and their Form FMC-1 (published tariff location) on file before the Federal Maritime Commission will issue their NVOCC license.

Commission Briefed on Canadian Ballast Water Regulations

A non-public collaborative discussion was held to receive a briefing concerning proposed Canadian ballast water regulations that, if enacted, might adversely impact U.S. flag Great Lakes ship operators.

Carl Bentzel Joins FMC as 42nd Commissioner

Carl W. Bentzel was sworn-in as the 42nd individual to serve as a Commissioner of the Federal Maritime Commission for a term expiring June 30, 2024.
