On Friday, February 10, 2012, President Obama announced his intent to nominate Chairman Richard A. Lidinsky, Jr. for another term as Federal Maritime Commissioner and Chairman, and to nominate William P. Doyle for Federal Maritime Commissioner.

The Federal Maritime Commission is the independent federal agency responsible for regulating the nation's international ocean transportation for the benefit of exporters, importers, and the American consumer. The FMC's mission is to foster a fair, efficient, and reliable international ocean transportation system while protecting the public from unfair and deceptive practices.

Due to the federal government shutdown, the FMC's website may not be up to date after January 22, 2018. Applications and databases will not be available and links may not function properly. No transactions or filings will be accepted until appropriations legislation is enacted and the federal government reopens.
