The Commission issued notice to the trade that common carriers are required to comply with demurrage or detention billing practices established by the Ocean Shipping Reform Act of 2022.
The Commission issued guidance on an interim process for filing charge complaints.
The Federal Maritime Commission is reorganizing its investigative and prosecution functions by consolidating them into a newly created Bureau of Enforcement, Investigations, and Compliance.
The open session of the Commission’s July meeting provided the public with an accounting of the progress being made implementing the Ocean Shipping Reform Act of 2022 and a general summary of the new law’s provisions.
