Readout of Meeting Between Chairman Louis Sola & Marianthi “Rannia” Leontaridi, Director General, Aviation, Maritime and Security Group, U.K. Department for Transport

Federal Maritime Commission Chairman Louis E. Sola met on June 10, 2025, with Dr. Marianthi “Rannia” Leontaridi, the Director General Aviation, Maritime and Security Group, U.K. Department for Transport.

“The United States and the United Kingdom enjoy a longstanding and especially close relationship built upon the strong foundation of mutual interests and values. The maritime sector represents a natural path for our two nations to cooperate directly, to our mutual benefit, with the effect of even further tightening already steadfast ties. I am confident that multitudes of opportunities exist for bilateral agreements that can spur investment, build infrastructure, and expand the economies of both our countries. Cooperation can and should also extend to identifying policy and regulatory issues where the U.S. and U.K share common goals in improving the safety and security of the world’s seas and seafarers. I look forward to continuing the conversation initiated today.”

The meeting took place at the Federal Maritime Commission headquarters in Washington, D.C.
